Clarity

2016  | Oil on linen | 200cm x 84cm

$5000

This painting came about by a quick flick through Instagram one morning! A brilliant photographer friend had just put up a black and white version of this image. She had taken this photo in her neighbourhood. I fell in love with it straight away and knew I needed to paint it!

Thank you to Kathy Ronalds for the way you see the world in colour, light and shades, and bring them to our attention! What a stunning image it is!

At the time of painting this I went through numerous ideas for its name. Settling on ‘Clarity’.

It was not that I was finding life easier, or all the puzzle pieces falling into place. I realized that THIS was what life was. A tangle of webs that we face.

Allowing them to wrap us and help us grow into stronger beings.

Able to help those around us navigate through their own similar webs.

The clear water drop symbolises the clarity that the tough time can bring us and the things it can teach us. There are always moments to be grateful for!

“There is a bigger picture, just step back from the canvas.” Ilona Simone

Growth is an erratic forward movement: two steps forward, one step back. Remember that and be very gentle with yourself.
