Scrolling Instagram, I stumbled upon a captivating photo of a koala mother and her baby. Captivated, I reached out to the photographers for permission to paint it. The photo, by @docsinthewild, was taken at Mallacoota foreshore, devastated by bushfires. The image’s resonance lies in the mother’s nurturing care, evoking my own loss and longing for parental figures. Painting it brought solace, reminding me of the support and compassion in the world amidst chaos.
